VMS 2024 Tourism Conference Recap

The Moray Speyside Tourism Conference was held yesterday (Thursday, March 14th, 2024) at Elgin Town Hall with an attendance of around 100 individuals including Levy Payers, Stakeholders and Industry Experts from Moray Speyside and beyond.

This year’s conference was hosted by Helen Smith from Byres Farm, who opened the conference and introduced the lineup of speakers:



  • Gemma Cruickshank, CEO of Visit Moray Speyside, shared insights and strategies for advancing tourism initiatives in the region.
  • Michael Golding from the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions provided updates on the work being done by ASVA.
  • David Jackson, Regional Director for VisitScotland, offered a valuable update from VisitScotland.
  • Kelly and Adam from Haim and Awa, social media influencers, explored how businesses can effectively engage with bloggers and influencers to amplify their presence.
  • Andy Macdonald from YBD Music and creator of MacMoray Festival discussed event creation and offered insights into organising successful festivals and events in Moray.
  • Lynette McLennan from VisitScotland, helped businesses start their Net Zero journey.
  • Angharad Rogers from the Town Centre Taskforce provided the latest updates on efforts to rejuvenate Moray’s towns and enhance the visitor experience.


The conference aimed to foster networking opportunities and there was truly a buzz around the room at lunch (provided by Badenoch’s Bar) and it was great to see businesses beginning some of the new working relationships.
