Overview

The Highland Spirit Bed and Breakfast is situated Dufftown, the Malt Whisky Capital of the World and in the heart of Speyside making it an ideal base for the malt whisky trail, walking, visiting historic castles (such as Ballindalloch, Dunnotar and Cawdor), exploring the Moray coast, riding an old train on the Whisky Line or the Battlefield of Culloden Moor. We aim to provide a high level of comfort and service and the 4-star rating and Taste Our Best awards are well deserved. The beds and showers are of a high standard and the rooms characterful and spacious.

Local attractions include the Glenfiddich Visitor Centre, Balvenie Distillery, Dufftown to Keith Railway, the 7 distilleries of Dufftown, the Speyside Cooperage, Balvenie Castle and the Knockando Woollen Mill. The Macallan, Glenlivet, Aberlour, Glenfarclas and Strahtisla Distillery Visitor Centres are also close by. There plently of interesting walks in and around the village.

The Highland Spirit, a listed building of around 1830, and has undergone major refurbishment, retaining all the character whilst making it a modern and luxurious bed and breakfast. The Georgian and Victorian features include original fireplaces, sash windows, panelling, cornicing and ceiling roses. Previous owners have included Grants the Coppersmiths and Alan Bennett, the penultimate Exciseman at Mortlach Distillery. The accommodation at the rear of the building was a branch of the North of Scotland Bank and includes entrance, walk in safe, bank office and manager’s bedroom.
