Tourism Industry Update

New Industry Recruitment Campaign Launched

A brand new campaign has been launched to encourage young people between 18 – 35 to choose a career in tourism and hospitality.

The campaign will run on social media, online and across a range of channels from 5th July until 15th August and will support businesses looking to fill staff shortages that have occurred as a result of Brexit and encourage people to consider applying for job opportunities available now.

As part of the campaign, employers with live vacancies are encouraged to list them on the CareerScope Jobs Portal

Find out more about the campaign on the VisitScotland campaign page where you can also download a campaign toolkit with social media images and the campaign video for your own use.

Earlier this year, the Scottish Government announced an extension to the 100% discount on Business Rates for eligible hospitality and tourism businesses for 2021. The discount is not automatically applied this year, so if you have not yet submitted an application, you will be sent a bill.

Make sure you don’t miss out – take a few minutes to visit the Moray Council website and download & submit the form.

Moray Council are offering caravan and campsites in Moray the opportunity to apply for a £500 payment in return for allowing non-resident motorhome / campervan visitors access to waste disposal facilities.

The initiative is in recognition that while progress towards installation of additional waste disposal points across the region is being made, the facilities are not in place yet (but visitors are).

If you operate a caravan park or campsite, the council should have been in touch with you, but if not, details of the scheme eligibility and an application form can be accessed HERE

Over the past couple of months we have worked alongside our friends at Tailor-Made Itineraries – a Scottish tour company who create bespoke travel itineraries for a host of locations and countries, and now including Moray Speyside!

The Tailor-Made team toured the region to discover just why we love it so much – they’ll now be making sure Moray Speyside is firmly on the map for their customers.

You can check out their blogs posts and keep up with them on Facebook and Instagram

We’ve been working on several press & media visits over recent weeks with The Times, The Scotsman and The Daily Mail so keep your eyes peeled for national coverage of our incredible region in the weeks ahead.
