The Visit Moray Speyside Tourism BID came into being on 1st April 2020 as a result of a legally binding ballot of tourism businesses which took place in late December 2019 and early January 2020. The Moray Speyside Tourism Business Improvement District is just the second operational Tourism BID in Scotland, the other Tourism BID is nearby in Inverness where Visit Inverness Loch Ness BID is now into its second five-year term.

The Project

The Tourism BID project began with and initial an online survey of tourism businesses. The survey was followed by a series of focus-groups facilitated by respected research agency STR Global. The outputs from the initial survey and focus groups formed the basis of a more detailed survey. This survey was sent to the businesses to be included in the ballot. The survey responses helped to refine and inform the final Business Plan.

The Tourism BID project development was overseen by Scotland’s Improvement Districts and was subject to approval by Moray Council and the Scottish Government.

The following link will take you to the Moray Council meeting where the Tourism BID proposals were approved by Moray Council’s Policy & Resources Committee on 29th October 2019. The link includes all of the documentation which was required by Moray Council and the Scottish Government.
