Wildlife Sculpture workshop with Scott Gleed.

You would have to have been living under a rock if you’ve not seen the plethora of creatively hand-painted, brightly coloured sculptures that pop up around the country in the name of charity (see images for the Highland Hospice Heilan’ Coo launch). Well, we have snagged the artist who makes these fantastic beasts with his own two hands, and he is coming to MAC to guide you on your very own animal sculpture journey.

What is sculpture? Sculpture is a personal art, anything from a stick on a brick to a full bronze, and everything in between can be classed as sculpture. Known as the plastic arts, sculpture can be any medium and style. In this introduction course we will put together a toolbox of skills and techniques. There are many types of styles, modern, abstract, representational, wildlife, real life etc. What will we learn ? You will learn the basic elements of sculpture. These include visualising 3d, the tools, the materials, the armatures and the art of observation.

All materials included. You will lean the principles and techniques using food safe sculptors wax. Then once you’re happy with your form, you will create a piece of your own choice to take away in air drying clay. Equipment: Basically anything is a tool if it gives you the effect you’re looking for. That also goes for the medium used, but for this course we will wax and air drying clay. Tools supplied.

*PLEASE NOTE: All of our workshops require a minimum number of participants for them to run. Workshops may need to be canceled or postponed if the numbers are not met.*
