NEOS (North East Open Studios) aims to promote arts and craft in the North East of Scotland.

Over the course of 9 days from 9-17 September, artists and makers across the region open the doors of their studios, and welcome in the public.

You get the opportunity to view our work where we make it, find out what inspires us and to learn more about our craft. It’s a really fun way to discover how much amazing creativity there is to enjoy in our area and, if you like, to purchase work directly from the maker.

Earlier this year, twelve Moray-based artists and makers who all take part in NEOS came together to form Moray Artists, in order to promote our own offering in Moray. We have now joined forces with another 13 local NEOS artists to create the NEOS Moray Coast Trail 2023.

There is a huge variety of work to explore and enjoy – including painting, mixed-media, ceramics, jewellery, and works in wood, willow and silver.

The original twelve who form Moray Artists are: Vera Bohlen, Iain Campbell, Karen Collins, Jude Edgar, Iona Hall, Alison Johnston, Dina Leigh, Iona Leishman, Stuart McAllister, Udo Reiss, Duke Christie and Maggie New.

More details about each artist, including the hours they are open during NEOS, can be found at https://www.northeastopenstudios.co.uk

Or download the fantastic, free North East Open Studios app, available on Google Play and Mac App Store.

Also look out for the distinctive yellow-covered NEOS books which are being distributed at venues such as cafés, galleries and libraries across the region. Like the NEOS website and app, these free books act as a directory of all the artists and makers involved in NEOS. Copies of the Moray Coast Trail map will also be available to help you to plan your studio tour.
