Caroline Simmill is back at the Gallery at Logie Steading, and we are delighted to be able to share her artwork once again.
Caroline specializes in producing works of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland in her primary medium of oil.
What Caroline says about herself: “I am a professional full-time artist. My work is about my emotional response to the atmospheric weather conditions here in the highlands and islands of Scotland. The moors and coastlines are places I tend to draw and paint the most. Visual memory and drawing directly from the subject are all part of the creative process. The painting is later developed in the peaceful and rural location of my studio in Moray.
I work in both an indirect oil painting style where the painting is gradually built-up using layers of opaque and transparent oil paint. And direct impasto palette knife painting technique.”
