Sponsored by Fred.Olsen Renewables, Cairngorm to Coast is a 100km hike and bike challenge event that takes place against the backdrop of the magnificent Cairngorm National Park and along the beautiful scenery of the Speyside and Dava Ways.  Taking you from the heights of the Highlands to the coast of Moray, it is the area’s most stunning duathlon. Cairngorm to Coast is Outfit Moray’s main fundraising event of the year and helps support our work providing life changing outdoor learning and adventure activities for young people in Moray and we have reduced entry fees for anyone wishing to raise funds for Outfit Moray.

The challenge is held on the last bank holiday weekend in May every year and begins at Cairngorm Ski Centre car park when entrants hike or bike down towards the Sugar Bowl, through Glenmore Forest to Glenmore Lodge, on towards Nethy Forest and Lyngarry, then towards Nethy Bridge, where they join the Speyside Way to Grantown-on-Spey. There, the ‘hike only’ participants will hang up their muddy boots and enjoy something hot to eat, whilst the 100km participants will get on their bikes and head up the Dava Way to Forres and then follow a local SUSTRANS route to Lossiemouth, a mere 70km later. There are plenty of manned checkpoints along the way, some with food and water to keep you going.

Do not be fooled, this is a gruelling challenge and requires plenty of training and preparation. The local climate is extremely changeable, and you could be starting the hike in the snow and finishing in sunshine!  Outfit Moray and Bike Revolution provide all the logistical information and support, as well as first aid and mechanical support on the day.

All Cairngorm to Coast participants will receive an event t-shirt plus a goody bag with a bottle of Windswept Brewing’s Lighthouse, because we all know it’s best when you’ve earned it! (Belay Bear for under 18’s). Open to ages 10+ for 30km hike and 14+ for 100km, so why not make it a family day out! To make the event more family friendly, we also have accompanying adult places where participants can sign up for a substantially reduced entry fee, but doesn’t get a t-shirt, goody bag or race medal.
