Join the volunteer team at Brodie Castle and Estate!
We are looking for people to join our fantastic team of volunteers and we have a variety of roles available.
You can support us through volunteering in many different ways – including joining a team of gardeners, sharing your love of history as a guide, learning about conservation or being part of the events team.
Whatever your situation, we want to make sure that you get the most out of your time volunteering for the Trust and we can offer flexible ways of getting involved!
Room Stewards (Open Guiding) – Are you passionate about history and heritage? Room stewards engage in a friendly and relaxed environment by offering information about the room, its content and the story of the family who lived here. You will be supplied with this information – we do not expect our volunteers to be experts on the history, paintings or furniture!
3 hours a week on a Saturday, shift times:
SATURDAYS from 9.45am – 1pm or 12.45pm – 4pm
Tour Guides (Guided Tours) – Are you passionate about history and heritage? Are you interested in sharing stories people from all over the world? This could be the perfect opportunity for you! We need your help to bring to life the stories of Brodie Castle and the people who lived here in a fun and engaging way. – The Castle is open to the public Wednesday – Sunday until the end of October. Flexible commitment – If you want to offer a whole day every week, great! If you can offer a few hours once a month, that’s also great.
Garden and Grounds – Join a group of volunteers who meet regularly on a Thursday who support the grounds team to maintain our beautiful estate throughout the year.
Collection Care – A team meet on a Tuesday morning and assist the Collection Care Team. · Helping to keep objects and interiors looking their best for people to see and enjoy, by supporting us with our day-to-day collections care work.
Events – Learn valuable skills and experience helping to welcome people to a range of fantastic events at Brodie. Ranging from family events, Open Air Theatre, Brodie Illuminated, Weddings and Christmas events. Work behind the scenes and help be part of a vibrant events programme. Suggested time commitment – ad hoc time commitment.

Part 1 – An Introduction to Volunteering at Brodie Castle and Estate
This session will give you a flavour of what to expect and what we expect from you. You’ll be able to meet staff involved in the departments and chat to existing volunteers about their experiences.
Refreshment Break
Part 2 – Volunteer Induction
If you decide volunteering at Brodie Castle and Estate is not for you or does not suit your current situation, then feel free to leave during the break.
However if you are interested in becoming a regular volunteer, then please stay for Part 2 which will include a short tour of the Castle and also cover an induction into roles you may be interested in.
