Jackie says:

“I am a Cornish born artist who now lives at Nethy Bridge in the Highlands. My passion has always been the countryside and the flora and fauna that lives in it. I paint anything from deer to insects and trees to flowers, with a particular passion for our feathered friends the birds, usually in watercolour, inks or pastels on paper or canvas and my work can be seen at several galleries in the Cairngorm area as well as Cornwall.

Some subjects are captured in my sketchbooks but each subject I choose to paint I like to thoroughly research before I put paint to paper, this I feel helps to capture its character and helps me to fully understand what I am seeing.

As well as selling my original paintings, all over the world I produce cards, mugs, clocks, coasters and other items from them, so I consider myself sometimes as a designer as well as an artist.

Throughout my life I have been lucky enough to live in two beautiful parts of this country, Cornwall with its azure coloured sea, rocky cliffs and sandy beaches and now the Highlands with its majestic mountains and green forests, both have been very inspiring and the selection of wildlife in both quite different, but I can honestly say I will never run out of subjects.

More of my work can been seen on Facebook @jackiehichensart and also on Instagram @jackie_hichens_art”

Logie Steading Art Gallery’s Exhibition runs from 4th November to 4th December
