Findhorn Forres Moray IV363TZ
The Findhorn Foundation and Community is a spiritual community and holistic learning centre – an experiential search into new ways of living. We welcome guests to become part of the ongoing exploration.
The Story of Findhorn
The world famous Findhorn Foundation, Community and Ecovillage began in 1962 and is situtated on the beautiful Moray peninsula, East of Inverness. It is a dynamic experiment where everyday life is guided by the voice of spirit, where we work in co-creation with nature and take inspired action towards our vision of a better world. It is at the heart of the largest intentional community in the UK, where more than 500 individuals live and work in this rural area of Scotland.
We share our learning and way of life in experiential workshops, conferences and events that take place within a thriving community and Ecovillage. This provides experiences and tools for people to relate to each other and to the world in new ways. We recognise that the future of humankind and the natural world depends upon a worldview that is compassionate and interconnected.
The Ecovillage The Ecovillage Project at Findhorn began in the 1980s as an extension of the community’s work with nature. The community’s home and energy footprint is significantly less than the UK national average – the lowest measured for any settlement in the industrialised world, according to a study by the Stockholm Environment Institute. Through its work to build a sustainable lifestyle, the community has contributed significantly to the growing ecovillage movement worldwide.
